Additional Services

We are excited to be able to offer your group some Additional Services

during your retreat at
Ancient Springs Retreat Center. If you are interested in considering these offerings in advance of your stay with us, please contact Anaya via email at anaya@ancientsprings.com.

1. Ceremonial Offering with a Wixarika (Huichol) Medicine Person

Rutury Temay is a traditional medicine person from the Wixarika (Huichol) tribe in the Sierra Mountains in Mexico and is one of your hosts at the Center. Our non-profit Indios Huichol is based here at Ancient Springs and your stay helps us support the Wixarika Elders in the villages. Rutury has been living in Arizona for many years and is fluent in English, Spanish, and of course his traditional language. Many of our facilitators have requested his services and have enjoyed a welcoming blessing ceremony and discussion at the beginning of their retreats, as well as evening fire ceremonies and other customized experiences. Fees are based on the services provided. You can read more about Rutury and our non-profit at www.indioshuichol.org

2. Massage Therapy and Fitness

For some of you who have been to Ancient Springs before you have met Chef Shell and have experienced the amazing meals they have curated for our guests. Some fortunate folks have also experienced the transformative bodywork that Shell was able to offer at some of our retreats. The feedback from our guests was that these massage sessions were deeply impactful and added a great benefit along with the other processes people were experiencing at their retreats. Shell is now focusing on offering massage therapy and fitness training to all of our retreats at Ancient Springs. We highly encourage you as a facilitator to consider scheduling your retreat with the possibility of making some time available for bodywork for you and your participants.

60 minute Massage - $100

90 minute Massage - $150

60 minute Massage plus 60 minute Functional Workout - $200

3. Additional Classes

With advance notice we can arrange a Yoga, Sound Healing, or Breathwork class for your retreat with one of the qualified teachers in our area. Fees are arranged with the individual teacher.

Rutury Temay
Wixarika Traditional Medicine Person

Rutury Temay is a Mara’akame, or medicine person, from the Wixarika tribe in the Sierra Mountains in Mexico. People may be more familiar with the other name that is often used which is the Huichol tribe. He comes from a highly regarded lineage of medicine people who taught him the traditional ways from the time he was born, including his grandfather, father, and older sister. He joined his sister in Arizona as a teen and worked and lived with her for many years facilitating ceremonies, retreats, pilgrimages, individual healing, and spiritual guidance in the US and Mexico. He has been involved in numerous Native American gatherings and summits and has collaborated with tribal people from all over the world.

Rutury can welcome your group with a Blessing to initiate your retreat, or share an evening fire circle to discuss topics relevant to your retreat offering his indigenous perspective, or customize a ceremony with you that you can arrange in advance.

He is dedicated to helping anyone in any culture who feels they would benefit from the methods that he has learned over many years of rigorous training. His lineage and commitment is to be of service to those in need and he has been asked by his Elders to make himself available for people to learn more about Wixarika ceremonies and culture from an authentic source.

Rutury is co-founder of Indios Huichol, a non-profit organization that supports the Wixarika communities through hosting retreats and ceremonies at Ancient Springs Retreat Center.

Shell Close
Massage Therapist, Fitness Instructor, Chef

My name is Shell and I am an intuitive wellness professional with degrees in Psychology (University of Arizona), Athletic Training (University of Arizona, NASM), Culinary Nutrition (Johnson and Wales University) and Massage Therapy (Sedona School of Massage). For the last 25 years I have been integrating highly specialized modalities to achieve comprehensive health results. An avid fitness enthusiast since birth, I have spent the majority of my adult life pursuing health and wellness as a lifestyle. I have been a Certified Functional Fitness Trainer since 2001 and I use that knowledge to inform my therapeutic massage practice.

Holistic vitality requires a balanced foundation. I specialize in an integrated approach to the physical body, combining the deep, structural release of connective tissue therapy with the alignment-focused power of functional personal training. My work is designed to help you shed years of accumulated physical stress and unlock effortless joint mobility. I can also teach you tools and techniques that you can apply at home to help build strength and establish a resilient movement practice that you can carry forward into daily life.

I will consult with you before your session to determine if there is a particular area to focus on and which modality is best suited for your goals. The benefits are significant for integrating the internal work you are processing on your retreat with how your body is also processing the journey you are on. This can be a powerful collaboration and I am honored to help you on this path.
